If you watched the Junos on Sunday night then you know that Leonard Cohen won for Songwriter of the Year to go along with winning Artist of the Year. This Canadian legend may be mostly know for his musical talents, but did you know that he is another type of artist as well?
Below is a signed, titled, numbered, dated, embossed, stamped, a professionally framed print (phew) of Leonard Cohen's, and it is going to help feed a lot of people in need in our city, thanks to the hard work of my mother-in-law.
"Hydra Table 1" #14/100 framed
For the past 4 years my MIL has been organizing an annual sock hop and silent auction to raise money for the Emergency Food Service Program at St. John the Divine. Each year they have raised around $5000 from this event. But this year, with the help of Mr. Cohen's print, they are sure to crush that number.
Leonard's people sent this print to my MIL to help raise money specifically for this event. That's pretty great stuff! This print has been appraised at $4500. The print is on display at the Avenue Gallery, on Oak Bay Avenue, who has volunteered to help out. Bids can be placed at the Avenue Gallery. Check out their website (scroll down) for all the information on the above print, as well as, two signed performance images (seen at the top of this post).
Here are the details for the Sock Hop and visit St. John the Divine's website for all the information:
